Gualtiero Volpe

Gualtiero Volpe is Associate Professor at Casa Paganini – InfoMus, DIBRIS – University of Genova, where he teaches Multimodal Systems and Foundations of Computer Engineering.
He received his PhD on Computer Engineering in 2003. His research interests include intelligent and affective human-machine interaction, modelling and real-time analysis and synthesis of expressive content, multimodal interactive systems, and analysis of social interaction. He was Chairman of the V International Gesture Workshop and of NIME 2008 (the 8th International Conference on New Interfaces for Musical Expression).
He was Guest Editor of special issues for IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing, Journal of New Music Research, Journal on Multimodal User Interfaces, and Entertainment Computing. He has a longstanding experience in participation in and management of European projects as task leader, work-package leader, and local project manager in FP5, FP6, FP7, and H2020. He also participated in national projects and coordinated local research projects. He was President of AIMI (Italian Association for Musical Informatics) from 2010 to 2014. He is co-author of more than 100 scientific publications.

Scientific responsible for UNIGE’s contribution to the TELMI project, leading tasks related to movement analysis and platform architecture.
